Clemson Tigers - Opening Game Predictions

Ok, ya'll remember that laughter and a friendly teasing can be a good thing ...

As every Clemson Tiger fan knows, the next best thing to real hard-hitting, down n' dirty, in-your-face college football is Clemson football. I've got a few predictions about this afternoon's game (which incidentally isn't being televised; this comes as no surprise to non-Clemson fans).

#1. Since Clemson is a 34 point favorite against hapless Florida Atlantic [ranked #7 in the Sun Belt Conference, for pete's sake], I'm predicting the Tigers will probably win by at least a field goal.

#2. I predict Clemson fans will interpret today's victory over Carrot Top's alma mater as a sure sign the Tigers finally have a team capable of challenging nationally respected teams like Florida, Florida State and Miami ... and will start a 12-week-long daydream for Tiger fans that Clemson actually has a chance of finishing ranked in the Top Ten this year.

#3. I'm predicting that interpretation is significantly in error.

#4. I'm also predicting that Clemson's humiliating defeat on November 25 at the spurs of Steve Spurrier's USC Gamecocks will be excused by Clemson fans with much creativity ("Spurrier made the sun shine in our eyes" or "Our cornerbacks got dizzy after USC threw so many passes" or "How can we win with only 11 players on the field?")

#5. Finally, I'm predicting Clemson's first real game of the season will take place on September 16, when the Tigers face extinction by tomahawk, courtesy of 10th-ranked FSU in Tallahassee.

ACC Fun Fact: Clemson hasn't won an ACC title in 15 years, not since the season before Coach Bowden's father, Bobby, brought the Florida State program into the conference. The amazingly powerful Seminoles have won or shared 12 of 14 ACC titles since 1992 ... effectively shutting the Tigers out of contention.
